Carolyn has written fifteen books on archeology, Western history, and quilting. Her book, Hopi Summer, was honored as OneBook Arizona 2011, a project seeking unity through literature. As a life-long quilter with a degree in anthropology, she has lectured extensively to various groups and has curated many traveling museum exhibits.
Carolyn was featured in Quilt Folk magazine, issue 6. She was the founding president of the Tucson Quilters Guild in 1976 and in 2010 she was inducted into the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame.

“Hopi Quilting: Stitched Traditions from an Ancient Community”
Carolyn will share the amazing story of Hopi quilting on the Mesas of northern Arizona. Since the introduction of quilting by Anglo missionaries in the 1880’s, quilts have become an integral part of Hopi culture and ceremony.
