Raised in the historic New England textile city of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Trish attended Southeastern MA University. She majored in graphic design so she could minor in photography which was her love. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts degree, Trish worked in the studio of a professional Boston photographer as a designer.
Trish’s career then turned to the cable television industry where she worked for 20 years in sales and marketing. Upon retiring in 2002, Trish went back to her art. She and her husband John travelled the country for three years in their RV where Trish took hundreds of photographs of the beautiful landscapes she encountered and transformed these photographs into her fiber landscapes and participated in many juried art shows along the way.
In 2005, Trish and her husband John settled in Three Points, which is 25 miles west of the city of Tucson AZ. Since arriving in Tucson her work has focused on the beautiful Sonoran Desert and has been shown in many galleries including The Tohono Chul Gallery, The Jewish Community Center Gallery, The Drawing Studio, The Tucson Botanical Garden Gallery and the Tubac Center for the Arts.

It is All in the Details
As an artist, I have been successfully creating fiber landscapes. I always use my own photographs as the pattern for my images. I work at making it look as realistic as possible by paying close attention to the proportion, dimension and perspective of each element. There were details in my photograph that I chose not to include in my art. I thought trying to add these details would be too difficult and very time consuming. My finished art always read well without them.
As I was creating my “Out House” piece I found I was struggling to get it to look right. It was flat and lacked visual interest.
What it needed was me paying close attention to the small details and adding them to the art. When I did, it made a huge difference and elevated the final work.
Adding the small details may be challenging, yet they absolutely bring life to the art. In my presentation I will talk about my process and show the difference details can make.
