Lecture – “The Quilts of Goldie Richmond”

Carolyn O’Bagy Davis has written fifteen books on archeology, Western history, and quilting. As a life-long quilter with a degree in anthropology, she has lectured extensively to various groups and has curated many traveling museum exhibits. An online exhibit based on a 2001 exhibition at ASM that was co-curated by Diane Dittemore, ASM associate curator of ethnology, and Carolyn O’Bagy Davis, Tucsonan and author of a major publications about the life and work of Goldie Tracy Richmond. “Papago Activity’s” was designated one of The 20th Century’s 100 Best American Quilts at the 1999 International Quilt Festival in Houston. Since then, it has traveled to major quilting centers, including the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. Carolyn was featured in Quilt Folk magazine, issue 6. She was the founding president of the Tucson Quilters Guild in 1976. In 2010, she was inducted into the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame.
