May 2021 – Wendy Mathson

wendy mathson

Wendy Mathson has been making and designing quilts since 1981, beginning with a baby quilt made in anticipation of her first child. 1n 1992, she was part of a quilting circle at her church that began making prayer quilts. A few years later Wendy organized “Prayers & Squares”, The Prayer Quilt Ministry. This interfaith nonprofit organization now has over 800 chapters worldwide. She began designing and teaching simple strip-pieced patterns for these prayer quilts which led to the invention of her cut-after-you-sew tools called Quilters TRIMplates.
Most recently, Wendy and her husband bought a house with a vineyard or a vineyard with a house; she is not sure which. They and their extended family all live in the San Diego area. Says Wendy, “Quilting is my joy, life is good.”
